Happy 2013!
A New Year. A Fresh Start. What will 2013 have in store for us?
Something fun to start the year off…
Pick a word, any word! Last year I picked a word for the year, which was prompted by Ann Voskamp at A Holy Experience. My word was JOY. Ann calls it giving the year a theme or a focus. I like that idea…something to celebrate for the year, something to focus on and be a constant for the whole year as life happens. JOY gave me calm, gave me being present to the moment, and helped me to make Him my focus.
Psalm 126:3 Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What joy!
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill me with all joy and peace as I trust in Him, so that I may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Once I picked it, it showed up everywhere! My sister gave me a bag and on the side of it in bold red letters is the word JOY! I found big block letters in red, for our mantle that spell JOY. Emails started showing up with JOY in them more often. Scripture would jump off the page to me containing the word JOY. It ended up being a fun thing throughout the year to find JOY. My son was born in May and he for sure is a JOY of mine. Plus, in the dailies with four small kids that little word brought me back to being present in the moment in the midst of some chaotic moments. Well it’s that time of year again and I will pick a word. I am tossing a few around and catching myself excited to see what word it will be and how it will show up for me this year.
Wishing you JOY today!
Marisa
