We Made It!

We made it through the week!  The girls may be arguing over a snack at the moment while my little guy is napping…it’s been one of those weeks!  But, I choose to relish and enjoy the last moments of summer with my kids before school starts.  We are all excited for routine and schedule now if we can go cold and virus free through the winter that would be amazing :)!

Soccer has started, meet the teacher has happened and now we just enjoy some time together this weekend before they venture out make friends and learn a bunch!

He is even ready with his new backpack and winter boots!

Monday Madness

The Madness

The kids woke up excited for a fun playdate at a new park…who would have thought this would be a highlight to my week before kids…funny how life changes!  It use to be a new outfit or a night out now it’s a park or a fun time at the bookstore.  I wouldn’t change it for the world, even if the park kind of blew up in my face.  With a two year old that wanted to “GO car”.  He decided today was not a day to be at the park while the three girls LOVED being at the park and did not want to leave.  I tried distracting him, feeding him a snack, but he was not having it.  We moved to another area to play and he was ok for a bit and then he kind of lost it and I said ok that’s it, we have to go…now it was three unhappy girls and one happy boy!  Maybe tomorrow will be better for the little man we are heading to the bookstore and there is a train there!

A few blog posts I ran across over the weekend that was nourishment for the mind and soul!

Why We Need Older Mamas Funny when I read this I am smack dab in the middle of being the young mom and the old mom…still have one in diapers, two in preschool and one in 1st grade.  I still have so much to learn but I can empathize with the new mom!  It’s true the saying God brings you through something so you can help someone that goes through it after you.  That is so true for motherhood…we are all in this together!

Children Are Not Check Boxes This one got me because I am such a list maker.  I have a list to go through during the day to keep me organized and motivated.  I need to remember that spending time with my kids is not on the list because I am suppose to just do it…be in their midst, listen to them, take time to sit and cuddle, read books, etc.  When life gets crazy I forget the ease of this and start trying to check of boxes…then I have to stop, breath and realize what is the next thing I need to do to calm the house.  Oh, if I could just remember this each day!

A couple of fun crafts to try in that last week before school starts and everyone is either bouncing off the walls or hanging from the ceiling!

Happy Friday Y’all!

It’s Friday and we are looking forward to a fun weekend with Roro (my mom) and Papa visiting.  That excitement of what will we do today is lingering as the house sleeps and the day is before us.  I couldn’t sleep not sure why but, decided to read and came across some good stuff I wanted to share!

  • A great post by Joy Forney at Incourage about listening…I needed to read this!
  • Words from Lysa TerKeurst Before They Go To School…Have This Conversation. I believe she writes this for parents of kids leaving home, but I will apply this to my littles as they head off to first grade and preschool.
  • I am just finishing up Am I Messing Up My Kids? also by Lysa and I am excited to start her new book The Best Yes.  They are part of the Proverbs 31 Online Bible Study Series.  Can I tell you how great these have been?  Feeling connected to other moms through reading a book about motherhood…oh how God knows the season I am in…freshly moved away from dear friends and in the throws of being mommy to four little ones!  Good books for encouragement and wisdom!

I am listening to The Matchmaker by Elin Hilderbrand on the Aubible app on my phone (it’s also available on Amazon).  It is GOOD!  A friend recommended it and I am so thankful…a good book to finish off summer reading.  I can’t wait to get back to my sewing so I can hear what happens next!

And before I go, here is a a great quick workout to try before the weekend gets here!

Happy Friday!
