Each night we read for about 20 minutes, it’s Vivian’s homework and I look forward to that time each night. In the beginning I was reading to Vivian and now she is reading to me. This has to be in the top five of the list “cool things to watch your kid learn”. I decided I did not want to read the same princess book every night so I go to the library once a week with the little ones while she is at school. I load up with some books and then use those when we do our nightly homework. We have found a few really great books for the fall…here they are:
Apples to Oregon
Thank You, Sarah
Leaves Fall Down
Millie Waits for the Mail (not a Fall book but still pretty cute)
Material, thread, scissors, a ruler, a seam ripper, a rotary cutter and a book from Audible.com…right now these are some of my favorite things after my little ones are in bed. RisaAnn Designs started a weekly Wednesday post on quilting. Check out this past Wednesdays post here.
Have a great week!
We are loving fall! The cooler temps, wearing sweaters and lighting fall candles has us happy!
This is our favorite scent so far.
This from Glorious Grace is good!
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
DEEP SIGHING BLOG POST
This post spoke to my heart. Didn’t realize I sigh during the day until after I read this and took the time to notice. Enjoy this post filled with wisdom by Tracie!
CHEATER APPLE CRISP
Not sure if you can even call this apple crisp but it’s still yummy and perfect for this time of year. Also, perfect if you are not a big baker like me and have minimal time. Take one apple, slice it up on a plate, sprinkle with a little cinnamon and toss in the microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Let sit for a couple minutes and then enjoy! Super quick, I don’t have to turn the oven on and healthy too! I would have attached a picture but I already ate the one I just made!
I have been tossing this on during that lunchtime hour when my three year olds seem to be melting with each whine and moan. It just sets some peacefulness into the room. My favorites right now are Bedtime Routine 2 and 3.
Have a great day!

This is part of Lisa-Jo’s Five Minute Friday. I have read them each Friday for over a year and decided to type one up this week…here goes!
She has taught me what it means to love with all your heart and how unconditional love works. She amazes me, teaches me, makes me laugh and gives me grace. She is an answer to my many prayers for a child and she made me a mom! I try to get in all the hugs and cuddles I can because I know one day they won’t be so easy to get. My girl turning 6 in 15 days…she told me yesterday to just start calling her “birthday girl”! The weeks are starting to go by faster and I miss her lots as full day school has begun. I catch myself worrying if I am teaching her what she needs to know for when she is out in the world without mom. Then I remember that He has her covered and He will guide her! My first one is making her way and spreading her wings!
Thanks for stopping by!

A couple of fun last minute activities with the kids, a crazy virus that brought us to the ER with our little guy, and organizing the closets…just some of the things filling our days as we bid summer good-bye!
A trip up north with cousins!
Finishing up our bucket list for the summer! So glad we did this…on days when I did not have anything planned this gave us ideas and added excitement for the kids.
Face painting! A friend and her artsy daughter brought this over a couple of weeks ago and the girls loved it and begged me to buy some. I picked it up at the store and it was a hit!
DOTS!!! They love using these, it is a great change-up from markers and crayons! Just a note: they are not washable so the girls have colorful hands after.
I have come across some great links this week so here they are!
We send our oldest to Kindergarten on Tuesday!!!
Here she is at open house!
Enjoy the long weekend and thinking of you as the school year gets underway!

We are enjoying the last days of summer before school begins. Vivian is off to Kindergarten while Sylvie and Amelia start preschool. They are all excited, nervous and ready…so am I! We have had a wonderful summer filled with playdates, trips up north and great times outside and to the park. I think we are all ready for what is next!
Just a few links today of things that are interesting, good reads and things that may help out as school begins.
The current book I am reading that I cannot put down is: One Thousand White Women: The Journals of Mary Dodd by Jim Fergus. A friend recommended it to me and I was hesitant because it is pretty long…but so glad I started it because it is a great read!
A couple pictures from the end of summer!
Three pirates and a man overboard…don’t mind the laundry in the chair that needs to be folded!
Daddy took his girls on a date while I had a date with Axel.
Enjoy the rest of summer!
Check out this new purpose filled jewelry from Gracewear Collection! My favorites are the Long Linked Necklace, the Cuff Bracelet and the Banded Ring. Tracie has a post all about it here!
So yeah, it’s summer and we have been busy…fun busy, crazy busy and hectic busy. Some days have been fabulous! Some days have been awful and some days have been messy. But, we pull it back together and start new each morning.
Psalm 23:3 NLT
He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
Girls Enjoying a Walk Together
Oops! Trying to multi-task and put formula in the coffee filter.
He loves to swing!
Lots has happened in terms of milestones for our house. Sylvie and Amelia turned three and are potty trained. Axel is one (blog post on his party to come hopefully soon)! Vivian is finishing her last summer before real school…Kindergarten this fall and learning to ride her bike without training wheels! We have been up north, used our share of chalk outside and enjoyed the sprinkler. Summer is going way to fast as we check off items on our Summer bucket list!
Our trip up north!
Sprinklers, Puddles and Chalk
She traced everyone’s body except Axel, she said he doesn’t sit still enough. Then she gave us clothes and faces!
He was not into the cake but his sisters and friends loved it!
Three years old, I can’t believe it!
Amelia had her tonsils and adenoids out…it went well and Big Sis was there to make sure AJ had enough popsicles.
Lots of smoothies being made…recipes to come!
I Mustache You a Question! One of my favorite pics! Way to go Daddy on getting the fun mustache’s!
Great Links This Week!
- Great post from Sally on ideas for little kids when you are on the go!
- An encouraging word from Kat for Moms!
- LOVE these pictures from Pioneer Woman! Sylvie was just telling daddy yesterday that she wants a horse that she can ride on…I think she will enjoy looking at these.
- Fun summer calendar from Melissa and Doug
Have a Blessed Day!
More to come soon, I promise!
Stop over to RisaAnn Designs today for the details on my first quilt! A fun adventure and a happy girl loves her quilt!
Over the winter I enjoyed some good books. I listened to a few with Audible.com and read a few. They all were pretty good, kept my attention and left me thinking for a bit. Here they are:
Beautiful Ruins I read for book club. I enjoyed all the intertwining story-lines and would love to see this as a movie. I would maybe read it again if I was on a beach in Italy relaxing and listening to the waves roll in.
Stories I Only Tell My Friends was good. I listened to it while I ran in training for the half marathon I ran. It took me about 3 weeks of runs to get through it. Kept my attention and pretty neat things the actor went through as he made his way through his career.
A Week in Winter is like Beautiful Ruins with intertwining story-lines. Most of the characters in the book are staying at a bed and breakfast place and it shows how they all got there. Everyone has their own story filled with drama, interesting twists and questions. I have about two chapters left of this and I am anxious to see how it ends!
Sparkly Green Earrings is a memoir from a complete motherhood perspective…I have laughed out loud a couple times while reading this. Quick read and relatable.
The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy I found on Instagram when someone posted about it. One of the reasons I love IG…you can find some of the neatest things on there as people share pictures. I have been wanting to look into using essential oils for AJ (digestion issue she has had since birth) so when I saw the book pop up in the IG feed I bought it. I really am enjoying using the book, there is such a wealth of knowledge and good information. I have bought some wonderful oils from Mountain Rose Herbs. They are really great quality and the other products they offer besides oils are really amazing.
So yes I am going to blog about a vacuum…one of the main reasons I enjoy doing the blog is to share what is making life a bit easier for us in hopes that it helps make someone else’s life a bit easier too! Yes, I am adding it to my favorites page.
The Vacuum…Ergorapido by Electrolux…This thing is a huge help around the house. I don’t have to haul out the huge vacuum to clean up after my crew and the floor seems to stay cleaner because I use it more often because of its ease. I love that it’s cordless, there is a base it sits on in our laundry room. Oh yeah, did I mention that the front part pops off and it is a little dustbuster?!?! I just grab it real quick, whip around the kitchen, under the table, the living room and bam done! Plus Axel thinks it’s a game and follows me around as I get all the food tossed off the table by Sylvie and AJ. Vivian loves it because she is big enough that she can use it, so see my floor is cleaner because she wants to use it too!
Have a great week!
Love this weather!!! This sky makes me want to lay on a blanket and watch the clouds go by!
Here are a few links that I thought were share worthy! Enjoy the links and have a wonderful weekend!
